Dear Casa 2 Parents,
Graduation and new beginnings
With only a few days left of school, every moment that we spend with the children becomes that much more special. We are holding onto every smile, every kind gesture, every struggle the children have because it is these moments that we cherish as children depart JMS for the summer or to begin their transition into their next school. The bonds that have been created this year are strong enough to withstand any break from one another, but I encourage each family to make it a priority to help set up playdates long after we dismiss on June 2nd. The relationships that I’ve built with each child are ones that I hold very dear to my heart, and I am hopeful that our relationships will continue well beyond graduation day. Once you are a Casa 2 family, you are forever a Casa 2 family. Please stop by with your child any time to visit and let us see how much they have grown. It is always fun to hear stories about their new school and to hear how happy and confident they are in their new environments. Seeing a child’s love for learning continue over the years is my greatest joy as a teacher. It may sound cliché, but I like to think of the graduating students as butterflies. Just like the live ones we observed and nurtured in Casa 2 this spring, the day came when we had to set them free. The children still talk about those butterflies and they make predictions about where they might be now. As a teacher, I prepare myself in knowing that the day will come when each child will graduate and I will need to give my greatest blessings to them as they continue on their journey. We congratulate our graduates- Abby, Benjamin, Ethan, Henry, Mae, Noah and Ryan- as they embark on their next journey. This is an emotional time of year, and every year is just as hard as the last. This year Casa 2 will say “farewell” to seven graduates and three others who are moving or changing schools. As difficult as it is to say goodbye, it is exciting to know that the children are prepared and ready to enter their new schools with confidence. For all families leaving JMS this year, please know that you and your children are forever a part of our JMS community and you are welcome to visit any time you’d like! As always, THANK YOU to every family for sharing your child with us this year… we have certainly enjoyed having them in our lives!
On the last day of school, we will have the graduation ceremony at 10:00 am to honor the 2016 graduates. Families of the graduates are invited to attend, and the rest of the children will also attend as part of their school day. School is dismissed for ALL children at 12:00 noon on this day, and we hope to see you at Lion’s Park in Chaska for our end-of-the-year picnic. Please stop by even if you cannot stay long. It is nice for the children to have this special time together before departing for the summer! As always, be sure to contact the office if you have any questions.
Thank you to fellow staff
The 2015-16 school year was a year full of change, challenge, inspiration, personal growth, connecting and team building. I would like to say a simple, yet very sincere, thank you to all of my fellow coworkers for a year of laughter, tears, bonding and support. I am so very thankful to have had each of you by my side this year. Although every one of you have had an important role in this year’s success, I would especially like to thank Mindi, Casa 2 assistant, for your continued help in the day-to-day activities within the classroom. The children adore you and I appreciate you so very much. Thank you, also, to Katya - whose dedication and support continues to go unmatched. We are so lucky to have you to help keep our daily schedules running so smoothly. Thank you, JMS staff, for a wonderful year!
Summer volunteers needed!
The tables in Casa 2 are in need of some TLC before we begin the 2016-2017 school year. We are looking for some volunteers to help sand and poly the table tops of our small tables. Please contact me if you would be willing and able to help with this process. I am happy to provide the polyurethane needed for repair, so it would be at no cost to you except your valuable time! Smooth tabletops help children as they are practicing letter formation and other important writing tasks.
We are also looking for a few families to adopt a plant from the environment to help minimize the chores for the summer staff. If you would like to care for a plant, please contact me and see what we have available. Plants can be returned in the fall when the children arrive for the new year. Thank you for considering plant adoption!
