Dear Casa III Families,
I hope all of you had a wonderful break; it is nice to be back and listen to the children sharing their spring break experiences with each other.
Thank you to those families who met with me for conferences. I loved the opportunity to sit down with all of you and talk about your wonderful children. Also thank you so much to all the families who participated or contributed to Jazz for JMS, it was great to see most of you there.
In February I got the opportunity to spend some time with the Montessori community at the refresher course, which took place in Long Beach, California. It was a wonderful chance to meditate and get re-inspired. This event helps all of us Montessori guides to remember the main reason why we do this work:
- to bring peace through education. Providing children with the best learning environment, where they can function independently;
- to maintain their love for work, trigger their curiosity and encourage exploration;
- to support and bring positivity to our families and community;
- to accept and respect each other as unique as we all are.
Montessori education is much more than a method of education, it is a way of living. Our main focus it is not just academic development, it is the children’s social and emotional development. As children mature psychologically the rest will just follow. So thank you so much for trusting us with your children and for providing them with such an amazing gift: an education that has purposeful, long lasting results.
“We cannot know the consequences of suppressing a child's spontaneity when he is just beginning to be active. We may even suffocate life itself. That humanity which is revealed in all its intellectual splendor during the sweet and tender age of childhood should be respected with a kind of religious veneration. It is like the sun which appears at dawn or a flower just beginning to bloom. Education cannot be effective unless it helps a child to open up himself to life.” Dr. Maria Montessori.
Now that spring is officially here, we have been able to spend more time outdoors; we are enjoying it so much! In addition to that, we have already started doing some planting in the afternoons, we have planted a variety of vegetables and flowers; the children are so looking forward to find a special place around our school so we can transfer those plants. We are also planning on beautifying and cleaning our back yard, doing nature walks and having picnics, so please make sure that you send extra clothing since it can be very muddy outside. As the days get warmer, please make sure to apply sunscreen each morning if you prefer that your child wears it. Please let us know if you would like us to apply sunscreen at school and if this is the case make sure you send a labeled bottle.
On April 29th we will have a parent night. The invitation to sign up for the 45-minute time slot has gone out. Please choose the time that works best for your family and make sure you only stay during the time you chose in order to respect everyones time.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Sharon, Kasey, Willow and Claudia.
