First of all, I would like to welcome our new friend Carter and his family! He is going through his orientation and we are very excited to have him as part of our casa!
We are also very happy to have the student teacher Jackie in our casa. The children are enjoying spending a lot of time with her!
On a different note, I would like to say that I am very happy to be back to work after such a nice break. The children keep on sharing their spring break experiences; they really love spending time with their families. Even though children enjoyed being at home, they were super ready to get back to work. We have been witnessing a lot of independence, children working in silence and reaching a high level of concentration.
Now since spring is officially here, the children are very eager to spend more time outdoors. Willow already started doing some planting with them in the afternoon and the children are looking forward to find a special place around our school to transfer those plants. We are also planning on beautifying and cleaning our back yard, doing nature walks and having picnics, so please make sure that you send extra clothing since it can be very muddy outside. Also, as the days get warmer, please make sure to apply sunscreen each morning if you prefer that your child wears it. Please let us know If you would like us to apply sunscreen at school and, if this is the case, make sure you send a labeled bottle (if it's a specific brand for special reason) or just a bottle for the class so we can share when needed.
Here is a special video of our environment in session so you can get a feel of what a typical day looks like...
"There is no description, no image in any book that is capable of replacing the sight of real trees, and all life to be found around them, in a real forest. Something emanates from those trees which speaks to the soul, something no book, no museum is capable of giving." — Maria Montessori.
Have a wonderful rest of the week!
